This is the list and part of the history of traditions and ceremonies endemic, done, held, or started in Alio pack. They are listed base on what they are meant for. Because of the high mix of foreigners in families sometimes, a new ceremony may be listed. Ceremonies are held quite often, because of the importance placed on keeping in touch with there spiritual side the wolves do. This may be edited at any time, so keep an occasional eye on this, please. also PM me if you have an questions or concerns please about this. Thanks.
The Traditions And Ceremonies:
The Mourning Choir/Howl- This is a very sacred tradition to the wolves of Alio, and one of there most prominent. This is a tradition centered on honoring and mourning a passed away alphas/alphesses death or that of a very important wolf. After the news is spread that said wolf has died, the wolves of Alio are called to the 'shrine', where the dead body is brought and placed in the center of. It is mostly under a very large oak tree, and it takes place on Bellmoon Isle. This always happens at night, always, never will it be done at day. The highest ranking wolf at the time (Whether it be Betess, Beta, or just the council.) will then announce the wolf has passed away and make a speech about it. The close family members are then aloud a few words a piece. And after the words have been spoken, the wolves do something very simple: They gather in a circle, sitting or standing, they howl loudly, together and all at once. As recorded by one scribe it is a very bone chilling, emotional, solemn and sad howl. It is not the most common tradition and reserved for the wolves mentioned above. After finished howling, the closest relative of the wolf buries the dead wolf mourned on the island. After such, the wolves leave the island and continue on with life. So if you ever here a mournful choir of wolves howling to the moon, the sound coming from the Forest of Golden Apples, spare a passing glance and thought, as the mourned ones soul passes on, whether it be to the beautiful Harporia, or the horrid Gliu...
The Naming of A New Leader- For whatever reason, if there is no current alpha/alphess, often times the closest relative or grown pup of the old alpha/alphess takes charge. If none are available, the council chooses a worthy wolf. And once chosen, the said wolf will be named alpha/alphess, simple right? Not exactly. The wolf will have to be proven worthy by a series of tests brought forth by the council, beta and betess. And then, they must have approval from there mate if they have one, or an elder. And when named, the whole pack gathers and recognizes with a bow there new leader...
The Prayer for Plentiful Prey and Good Weather- There is not a religion the wolves follow per say, but they do occasionally gather to thank the great alphess in the sky, Ventriloquist, for the things they have. And if they have not plentiful prey or good whether or another problem, they prayer for it. Such gatherings are called by the alphess/alpha. This is a spiritual pack on some levels...
Prayer For Good Weather:
Oh please hereth my cry, great one in the sky,
I calleth you to change are suffering...
Change this land of no rain, no prosperity...
Into a coven of life of lush fertility!
I beg you on my last legs!
Prayer for Plentiful Prey:
Listen to my howl, hear my humility,
as I plea to hear the thud of my prey once more,
to hear its heartbeat,
to have it prosper,
so I may prosper in turn!
The Western Zodiac- *There is a whole thread on this for more info, check it out if you have an Alio wolf or even if you don't, go ahead* The Zodiac is a big thing for Alio and the stars and heavens are read by part time astrologers, and often used to foretell future events, such as if there will be bad fortune ahead or a great change is coming. Therefore, most wolves of Alio usually know there sign of birth. This is also used to tell time in some ways. Sometimes these are also interpreted as messages from the great alphess herself, Ventriloquist.
Summer & Winter Migration- In the past this was the hugest event of the year, but no longer. but still, this is a huge event and is done twice a year, once in fall, once in spring. The territory of Alio is large and vast, meaning different areas have different climates, and changing seasons means changing weather. In early fall, the pack gathers there things and leaves for there winter campsite, hoping to find a more hospitable place for the harsh winter. Once in the past, Bellmoon Isle was a prime winter campsite. Then, in spring, through often a bit later than it was in fall due to the birth of pups, they gather there bearing once more and head off back to there summer den site. They will repair if need be, for the winter may do damage to the site at times. This is always done twice a year, and only skipped if held up by an emergency...
The Oath For Allegiance- This is the oath used to swear in new members, pups over a year old, and foreign loners seeking refuge in the pack. If not rejected, the loners and new members have week to make there appeal and memories the oath, then if this appeases the attending judge (Most likely Advisor to the alphess/alpha or a Council member.) and the also there alphess/alpha, they then are allowed to proceed with taking the oath. The wolf trying to prove themselves to become a full member must then recite the oath, and this, hopefully, proves that the wolf is loyal and won't betray the pack.
The Oath:
I, ______, have renounced my old ways, and now in favor, turn to aid my friends and fellows of Alio, in there fight.
Never will I ridicule a brother or sister wolf just because of difference of appearance, different beliefs unless they oppose equality of all or freedom.
I now see only the hearts of wolves are to judged.
And I will fight for the freedom and equality of all, for now,
I, am heart and soul, entwined in loyalty to the Alio pack and clan!
The Treatment of Foreigners- As told by the ancients of Alio and its founders, even travelers and wolves of foreign heritage should be treated with the utmost hospitality. Alio wolves seldom reject a wolf on site, unless they are considered a threat to freedom, equality or anything sacred to the pack. The pack is usually very accepting of outsiders just seeking refuge and loners even, are sometimes granted a stay for a few days by the council or alphess/alpha. They are open to wolves joining and will encourage even, a wolf to join. There not adverse to saying more the merrier! The only time this is not found, is in the event of a spy or an enemy pack member still loyal to the enemy...
Death upon Offense- This is the ultimate point of punishment in the Alio pack. This form of 'punishment' (This is very highly unfavored and disliked by the Alio wolves) hasn't been used in centuries, since the rule of Almageer, whom is famous for being the first alpha/alphess known for sentencing the first wolf to death in Alio pack history. Even foreign spies do not deserve it, in the eyes of the Alio wolves. However, it has been decided if ever issued, it was to be carried out on a night when the silver moon was clear overhead, on the side of Alagonia lake...
Courting A Mate- There is no fighting aloud over females for the males in autumn, the alpha/alphess do not tolerate it and it is a pack rule. Females and males are not aloud multiple mates, as it is believed to prove disloyalty to a partner to do such a thing. However, depending on the current alpha/alphess, the you may have more than one mate or may not have a permanent mate. Now, divorces are more than allowed, if both parties desire it is that is, simply talk to the council, get the alphess/alphas approval, and your set, you could go looking for a new mate then, even. But, besides that, you must court your mate for a moon or more (A moon is a month...) or until the next sign in the zodiac is in power.(Example being Aries transition to Taurus). Then the wolves seeking to be mates get the alphas/alphesses approval (She gets them a lot, so no worries), and voila! The wolves are mates. The wolves of Alio are allowed to go to the courting grounds.
The Yearly Election Of Council Members- After a year of a set of Council Members, the new election is held. When is a frequent question, on the first day of spring, corresponding with the rejuvenation of life, is the day the elections are held. And for months before then, often starting in late fall, campaigning wolves are seen, vying for spots on the council, to represent there, and there voters, interests in pack matters. Any wolf over a year of age and with a handful of other requirements, may vote. There are also requirements to be a Council Member. This is a big event in pack life, and adds a spin of politics, too, while representing the interests of the pack as a whole. There are five spots on the council each year.

-Must be of at least a year of age.
-Either gender can vote as long as they fulfill all the other requirements

More may be added as time goes on as said before, be vigilant, PM me with questions, also said before,
