The small 5 month old gave a whine, she pressed deeply into Pawn's fur, trying to hide from that cruel wolf!

Dakota lay down under a nearby pine tree, nestling into the roots. It was becoming very comfortable. Sleep in the same spot for a few days, and it got quite cozy. She would have to remember this spot for next year...

Fawn flattened her ears in anger and annoyance. Saying such things to a pup was extremely cruel, even if it was fun for the wolf. The calm, gentle she-wolf nuzzled Ginger once more, before darting off to speak to Dakota. A look of determination flashed in the Doctor's eyes, as she stood before the Hunter, "You do not say such things to a pup, Dakota. It is not right, they are the future of the pack." Fawn felt embarrased, by she still stood tall and proud against the older she-wolf.

Dakota shrugged, an amused smirk on her face. "Well, I'm not old yet," she said. She was still the future of the pack, and she would be supplying 'the future of the pack', so she was just as important. Hi-yah!

Ginger gave a light whine, but that whine was swallowed up by her ego, she would not let one wolf make a dent in her future. She stood tall, her dreams of being a hunter would not just fly into her paws. She walked proud, her ears rose tall on her head, her tail untucked. She strode forward her icy eyes determined, she stood beside the Doctor wolf, "I want you to train me to be a Hunter." She stated firmly, she did never live up to her age, only at certain moments.

Fawn huffed slightly at Dakota, ears pinned back. When Ginger came to her side, and voiced her wish, they instantly perked. Shaking her head, the Doctor hissed quietly, eyes wide with worry, "Ginger . . .!"

** ah, okay
Dakota looked down at the pup, and then snorted. "The Mentor chooses the apprentice, not the other way around," she said, putting her angry and offended thoughts into a simple sentence. Apprentices didn't go seek the master, if a warrior or hunter wanted an apprentice, they would seek a pup that showed potential, one to be proud of. When she found the right pup, she would finally become a mentor herself. But this pup wasn't for her.

*kk*
The small blonde female gave a huff, "Then you watch, I will become a great hunter one day, " She voiced her thoughts her icy eyes took a hard turn, they showed only determination and the will to prove that she was something to be wanted. The thought in the back of her mind though was, what if she never got a mentor, then what would happen to her?

Dakota rolled her eyes. Whatever, that pup had nothing on her. She didn't want an apprentice, and not much could change that, so that was that. She shrugged, turned around, and walked off. Yup. thats what all pups thought. That they would be the best hunter in the pack. But it wasn't the thoughts. It was the countless nights spent learning to stalk and see and hunt in the pitch black, the early wake ups to practice bloody fighting with the warriors; thrown around like a punching bag. And the easiest to remember, the many days laying half dead in the doctors hollow, her flanks ripped open, her muzzle scarred.
That, and only that, was what made a wolf 'great'.

Oklahoma padded from his den. He looked up at the sky, smiling at the nice weather. He turned his head over his shoulder. "Raff, would you like to travel to the lake today?" he asked. It was half a days walk, but well worth it. They would have to hunt a little though, as this would be an overnight trip. He could almost smell the sweet freshwater breeze that came from the lake.

RaffRaff raised her head slowly as if debating it in her mind. She would be pupping before too long- but this could be the last time she could go to the lake for a while most likely. She stood of thin legs, her belly bulging slightly under the weight of the coming pups. She then nodded her head as a yes, speaking quietly,"Go ask Matrix first and then we will go."It would be worth the trip to see her mate so happy. Word Count: 84 Notes: Wow this is really short.:/ Sorry![/size]
